Six small words that describe six beautiful people – The Downings.

Take a minute to meet an extraordinary family, experiencing unbelievable circumstances.

Gary “The Patriarch” – A passionate man, a born leader who has masterfully inspired others to be their best for more than 20 years. But above all, his most important accomplishment, what he’s truly most proud of is the relationship with his wife and his delightful daughters.

Kristin “The Matriarch” – A gentle but strong woman, patient and kind, she’s as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside. She’s dedicated her life to being the kind of wife and mother we all strive to be.

“The Girls” – Four active, beautiful daughters. Megan (17), Jenna (15), Kaitlyn (12) and Ally (10).

Their Story

In June of 2012, Gary, the fun loving, quick witted patriarch, was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. As if this diagnosis wasn’t gut wrenching enough, Kristin was battling her third bout with cancer. At age 46, and 21 years at a company he loved and who loved him equally, Gary was forced to retire. Meanwhile, Kristin was still undergoing treatment to keep her disease at bay.

Gary and Kristin had always planned for the future; after all, Gary’s business was helping others plan for their future. But who could ever plan for these devastating circumstances? Now, unknown life, medical and care giving expenses are their reality. With Gary no longer able to work, and four beautiful girls who have college and life ahead of them, this beautiful family needs your help. This family is humble. They would never ask for assistance. But those closest to them know they need the support of their family and friends.
